Quick, effective removal of benign skin lesions using controlled freezing.
Cryotherapy uses extreme cold to freeze and destroy benign skin lesions such as skin tags, warts, verrucae, seborrhoeic keratoses and some small moles. It is a quick, safe and minimally invasive treatment performed by our doctors in clinic.
During treatment, freezing nitrous oxide is applied directly to the lesion using a spray or probe. The freezing temperature destroys the abnormal tissue, allowing healthy skin to heal beneath.
The procedure is quick, often taking only a few minutes per lesion. You may feel a brief stinging or cold sensation during freezing, followed by a mild ache as the area thaws. The treated area may blister, scab or darken over the following days before healing naturally.
After cryotherapy, it is important to keep the area clean and dry. We will advise you on appropriate skincare and when to return for review. Most lesions resolve with one treatment, although larger or more persistent lesions may need a second session.
Not all lesions are suitable for cryotherapy. Any suspicious mole or lesion will be assessed and, if necessary, referred for specialist review.
